If you enjoy playing or singing good music, there is a whole host of reasons why you’ll enjoy being a member of KEMS. And if you are a full-time student, membership is absolutely FREE (see below)!
Do you need me?
Macclesfield Singers: We are always keen to welcome new members in all voices. We expect you to be able to read music, but there are no auditions – just get in touch, or even just turn up to a rehearsal (see the Singers page for details).
Macclesfield Symphony Orchestra: New string players of a good standard are always welcome and, at present, we are particularly looking for viola, double bass, principal trombone and percussion players. Although we are fortunate to have a full complement in the other sections, we are always interested in meeting players who would wish to join us for larger works and play as deps from time to time. Macclesfield Concert Band: As a community band at present we are particularly looking for trumpet, trombone, baritone saxophone, euphonium and tuned percussion players. However, we are always happy for any new players to join us, without audition. You can get in touch here.
Macclesfield Contemporary Ensemble: We have an eclectic mix of instruments and are always keen to welcome more. If you are interested in learning more about joining, please contact us before coming to a rehearsal – this is so that we can ensure that we have the correct parts for your instruments.

How much does it cost?
The annual membership fee for Singers, Symphony Orchestra or Concert Band is £150. If you would like to be a member of two or more of these sections, the annual fee is £225. Membership of Macclesfield Contemporary Ensemble is at present £30 per year.
However, we do not want money to be a barrier to membership, and are always happy to discuss alternative arrangements in strictest confidence.
Are you a full-time student?
We are keen to involve more young people in music-making. If you are a full-time student, membership of KEMS is FREE. It’s a great opportunity to develop your singing or playing skills – and make new friends with similar interests.
