Welcome to KEMS

Who we are
We’re a music society comprising four sections: Macclesfield Singers (a large mixed-voice choir); Macclesfield Symphony Orchestra; Macclesfield  Concert Band; and Macclesfield Contemporary Ensemble. Our friendly members, who cover a wide age range, have one thing in common: they  take making music very seriously, always striving for the best possible performances while enjoying themselves immensely.

ELLIS THOMPSON
Leader, Macclesfield Symphony Orchestra
We are devastated to announce that our Orchestral Leader Ellis Thompson, 31, died tragically young of a cardiac arrest on Tuesday, 17 May 2022, His death came just days after his brilliant, inspirational and passionate leading in our final concert of our current season at St Michael’s Church in Macclesfield on 7th May.

Ellis was much loved by all of us in KEMS, and will be sorely missed and long remembered.
